Marijuana map of the US after the 2016 election? It’s green

Jay Lauren

The marijuana map of the US shows the states going green.

There are currently 25 states plus the District of Columbia that have adopted marijuana laws. Four of these states – CO, WA, OR, and AK – have also passed recreational marijuana laws, allowing anyone over 21 access to marijuana, like alcohol. (Montana, which passed medical laws in 2011, is now voting to repeal the restrictions the state put on operating marijuana businesses.)
Four new states will vote on adopting medical laws during the 2016 election vote – AR, FL, MT and ND. And 5 existing medical states will vote on whether to allow recreational sales of marijuana – AZ, CA, MA, ME, and NV.
Here is what the marijuana map of the US might look like, highlighting states voting on medical marijuana laws, as well as existing medical states voting on the introduction of recreational marijuana laws:

If the measures in favor of recreational marijuana pass in all 5 states, it will mean that marijuana will become as accessible as alcohol to more than 25% of the US population.
While the votes in favor of recreational marijuana will most certainly move the industry toward anti-prohibition, these are all important ballot measures. We believe that all states, at some point, will adopt medical laws, either through voter ballot measures or state-enacted legislation. But our opinion doesn’t matter: your vote does. Voters in every state, and local community, should decide on this matter for themselves. Don’t forget to vote tomorrow: your vote on this issue matters.
